The files that accompany this readme file replace the database engine for MCS
Stereo. The current version of the Stereo database engine has failed in some
instances, resulting in data loss. The accompanying files correct all known
problems with the database engine. Even if you haven't had problems in the
past with the database, we advise you to update the files.

To use the new files, first go to your MCS Stereo directory and rename:
MCSDATA.DLL to MCSDATA.BAK
MCSMM.DLL to MCSMM.BAK
MM.EXE to MM.BAK

In the event of any problems installing the update, you may delete the new
files (from this update) and rename the *.BAK files to their original
extensions. If you do experience problems, please contact our Technical
Support department.

If you have experienced database problems, such as "lost" or corrupted
information, random characters appearing in entries, etc., it is possible
that current entries will be lost. The accompanying updated files have been
verified to correct data corruption/loss problems when "starting from
scratch". However, you may continue to experience problems with the updated
programs if you continue to use the damaged data files. If possible, proceed
with the following procedure to backup and subsequently delete your existing
data files. If you have entered a substantial amount of data (i.e., hundreds
of cds), please call us and arrange for an attempt to recover any undamaged
data from your database.

To backup your data, make a directory called "TEMP" under MCS Stereo and,
from the MCS Stereo directory, enter: "COPY *.DB? TEMP<enter>". This will
back up your current database files in case they're needed later. Then, from
the MCS Stereo dir, type "DEL *.NDX<Enter>", followed by "DEL *.DB?<enter>".
This deletes the current data files.

Finally, copy the new MCSDATA.DLL, MCSMM.DLL and MM.EXE files into your MCS
Stereo directory, and copy the CTL3D.DLL into your Window's SYSTEM
subdirectory.

Please report any problems to us so we can fix them.

Thanks for your help. Together we can make MCS Stereo even better!
