Dear Customer !

Here is some important information you need to know
to install Cubase properly. Before you start you have
to decide whether you want to use the MIDI drivers
which come with Windows 3.1 and/or from the vendor of
your MIDI interface or alternatively the drivers which
come with Cubase.

1) Using Cubase with MME drivers
In this case you have to run the MIDI Setup program which
comes with Cubase and activate Multimedia MIDI. Please
disable all other interfaces. You should then use the Control
Panel, found in the Main Group, for setting up drivers which
are a part of Windows. Here you have to install the MIDI
driver according to the instructions which come with your
MIDI interface.

2) Using Cubase with it own drivers
In this case you should run the MIDI setup and activate
the driver for your interface. If you select the interface
option you will see some optional fields which have to be
filled according to the instructions of your MIDI interface.
Please make sure that all other drivers are disabled.
After quitting the program with OK you should start the
Window`s Control Panel for setting up drivers and make sure
that there is no driver installed which talks to the same
interface as Cubase. This can lead to strange behaviour and
you should therefore remove the relevant driver.

Cubase needs the Windows Timer driver in order to run.
Please make sure that the Timer driver is installed in Windows.
It can be found in the driver Control Panel in Windows.

Additional Information:
Commonly in PC compatible computers certain IRQ and Base
Addresses may be used internally for the Monitor and Printer
Port. If you have a situation where the Set Up program
and the physical setting on the card match but nothing works,
try another IRQ and Base Address pair.

If you get the situation where Cubase can transmit data
out of your interface but fails to see any MIDI input,
you have almost certainly got the Base Address correct
but the IRQ wrong.
