README.TXT for the Windows Hypertext version of the Internet Jargon file

This is the famous Jargon file (version 2.9.12) converted into the
hypertext format used by the Microsoft Windows(tm) help facility.
It requires Windows 3.1 or later (or NT).

This is the second version of Jargon for Windows. The first was
a conversion of version 2.9.9 of the JArgon file. This version
has more than 2000 more lines of text in it and yet the file is
smaller. This is because this version was compiled with COMPRESSION
enabled. So don't be concerned that this version is smaller than
the older one.

To install it, copy the file JARGON.HLP to a suitable location on
your hard drive and then go into Windows and create a new program
item in the Program Manager (or Dashboard, or NDW or whatever) that
executes the following command:

WINHELP C:\JARGON.HLP

Obviously, if you moved the JARGON.HLP file somewhere else you will
need to specify the correct path name for the file.

Now you can bring up the Jargon hypertext database at any time by
opening the icon in the Program Manager.

Read the introductory section of the dictionary for more information!
