FSS is a Windows/DOS based program that creates adventure scenarios which
add ATC control to Flight Simulator 4.0. The idea is simple. You visit the
Flight Service Station (FSS) to create a flight plan which, in turn, is input
to the adventure creation process. At the FSS you enter a simplified flight
plan, including weather briefing, and detailed approach/landing information.
This information is then used to create an adventure (.ADV) file that
provides complete Air Traffic Control and weather generation for your flight,
from clearance delivery to touch down. Each flight is a 'check ride' and is
scored by a check-ride pilot. FSS provides ATC control for vector
approaches, DME Arc approaches, procedure turn approaches, and stright-in
approaches where you are cleared direct to the Initial Approach Fix.
Landings can be ILS, VOR, VOR-A, VOR/DME, NDB, LOCALIZER, and LOCALIZER
BACKCOURSE.

Other features are randomly generated 'holds', and randomly varied weather.

This is beta release software. I am not representing it as a finished
product. FSS still contains some debug code and many many rough edges.
I still find something that doesn't work right with almost every scenario,
and I am sure you will also. The download size is almost 1MB. FSS.ZIP
will contain the complete current version. Updates will be uploaded as
FSS99.ZIP where 99 is the most recent update version. Updates will contain
only certain executables and documentation, and so will be much smaller.
If this sounds like your cup of tea and you would like to help me test it
and refine it, I think we can all have a lot of fun.
