Tod 5 op2. The Meeting (tod1 op2, id-recon)

After the resupply operation, the Illinii made contact with the fighter dock. Because we were able to work together in the last mission without shooting at them like "pirates", they have agreed to a meeting to discuss joining the Alliance and perhaps even a treaty with most of the real pirates in the area, and indeed in the whole of the theatre of operations. Since the planet of Illini had been more or less forced into piracy, they have made very good contacts with the rest of the pirate bands. Many, the Illinii say, are ready and willing to join the Alliance if Letters of Marque are given and they are allowed to raid the Empire's commerce. The Illinii, considering themselves at war, had no use for such nicities, but proposed to allow free passage to neutral vessels that allowed themselves to be scanned, and Alliance Vessels involved in the war effort. They furthur agreed to allow the pirates to expand the bases they shared in the asteroid belt, and use Natoor for a drop off point if the Alliance would help build the base there, and protect the legal pirates and Illini and it's system.

The Alliance for its part was more than willing to have these two powerful allies at this point in the war. Agreements were made and signed by the elected chiefs of eight pirate bands with the Illinii, and then with the pirates, the Illinii, and the Alliance. Letters of Marque were given to the Signatories, includng the Illinii, who promptly returned them, prefering war.

In the Alliance agreement with the people of Illini, we agreed to provide them with the technology to produce the latest weapons and shields and to help them rid themselves of the Empire by continuing operations in the area, and providing a base on Natoor and more personnel for fighter docks. We also agreed to share military knowledge and training, and open embassies and trade associations. They agreed to provide a planet (Natoor) for a base, sell us food and military equipment at very reasonable prices, and in general become the "arsenal" for this end of the galaxy. If we'd had these people at Yavin, we would'nt have left there. For anti-personnel weapons they have no known equal, and their "soldiers" as they call them are the best trained, most determined, and most aggressive warriors the Empire or the Alliance has yet discovered. They are incredibly fierce people who will make bold but rational moves on the field and will not give up anything without orders to do so. They are also one of the least hypocritical people known. In conversation they can barely withhold their hostility toward the Empire, and it seems they have the will to hold that hostility until the end is reached... one way or the other.

In this operation we meet and treat with the Illinii. Protect the meeting. Anything that moves in this sector is open to attack by the Empire, and the Illinii and the Pirates won't leave figuring we make it or break it right here. For this reason we have brought up some heavier forces and a few capital ships in case there is trouble. A shuttle will bring the Illinii and pirate leaders to a meeting aboard the corvette Escher. The Frigate Lulu has been wheeled up and put in place just in case. The meeting is within 1 minute of 2 fighter docks, and two flights of x wings will be in attendance. Your group will cover the interceptor role in your awings. The Illinii will cover the meeting also from their hidden resources in the asteroid belt. We recently sent them cad files of the Ywing3, and a working model of the fighter from the Frigate Lulu, so with their production technique don't be supprized if you get passed by a Ywing.
