Overview:

DiagramIt is a versatile tool that makes creating,
modifying, and reusing drawings and diagrams very easy. It
is designed to take full advantage of the MicroSoft
Windows(r) environment. DiagramIt provides the capability
to draw with predefined geometric shapes or use pre-existing
bitmap pictures as DiagramIt objects. The set of
pre-defined geometric shapes are those found common to
drawing and modeling tools such as lines, polylines (lines
with bend points), polygons (pentagon, hexagon, octagon, etc),
triangles, diamonds, rectangles, ellipses, circles, pies,
and chords to name a few. Any bitmap file saved by a program
(such as "Windows Paintbrush" which comes with MicroSoft
Windows) may also be included in a diagram as a diagram
object. The bitmap file need only conform to the MicroSoft
Bitmap File Structure Standard to become an object within a
DiagramIt diagram. This bitmap object can then be
manipulated like any other object - connecting lines to the
bitmap object as well as changing its size and position in
the diagram is easily accomplished.

An additional feature of DiagramIt allows you to place and
manipulate free-form text as just another object anywhere
within the diagram or drawing. Extensive use of Brush, Pen,
and Font colors, sizes, and styles is also provided. Text
may also be easily rotated a full 360 degrees. Support for
drawing diagrams to the Windows Clipboard provides the
capability to easily integrate complex drawings into any
word processor or desktop publisher package that supports
the ability to "paste" the clipboard image into the
document.

Polylines (lines with bend points) are connected to objects
simply by beginning and ending the drawing of the line
anywhere within an object. You may have up to 50 polylines
connected to any one object. Once connected, the polyline
moves with the object when the object is moved. The
connected polyline(s) will also be deleted with the object
if the object is deleted. Disconnecting a polyline from an
object and reconnecting it to another object, requires only
to move the polyline from one object to the other.

This tool is capable of managing up to 1000 levels of
diagrams within a single diagram set with a theoretical
maximum of up to 65,000 diagrams per level. A diagram set is
made up of related sub-diagrams. The number of diagram sets
is limited only by the amount of available disk space.
However, the total maximum number of sub-diagrams within a
diagram set is 65,000. (Of course, this can also be limited
by the amount of available disk space as well as the amount
of memory available to Windows.)

Navigation of these sub-diagrams is easily accomplished
through the "GoTo" function as well as directly "ascending"
and "descending" to and from sub-diagrams. The "GoTo"
function uses MEANINGFUL USER SUPPLIED DESCRIPTIONS to
navigate the sub-diagrams. You are allowed a maximum of
32,000 to 65,000 objects per sub-diagram depending on the
object type.

Animation of both lines and geometric shapes is also
provided. This gives the tool an advantage in presentations.
"Living" (i.e. animated) diagrams may be used to attract
attention and emphasize important points. The animation of
objects is accomplished and modified through the "Animate
Object" function.

The "DiagramIt Workbook" feature allows any portion of a
diagram or sub-diagram to be quickly and easily incorporated
into another diagram or sub-diagram. Once a portion of a
diagram is "Copied" to the Workbook, another DiagramIt
session can "Paste" the Workbook contents into its currently
displayed diagram or an entirely new diagram. All polyline
connections to objects within the Workbook are maintained.
This maximizes diagram and drawing reusability.

The "Group Mode" functionality provides an additional
advantage. This feature allows the user to manipulate lines
and objects as a collective group. This capability is useful
when similar types of edits (such as: Moves, Duplicating,
Deleting, or Resizing etc.) need to be performed on several
objects as a collective group.

Context Sensitive Help is also provided. The Help sub-system
makes extensive use of ICONs and cross referenced text.

Once you have an opportunity to use this product, SoftCraft
feels that you will see there are endless possibilities for
its uses: from drawing flowcharts, dataflow diagrams, and
organization charts using scanned images of pictures, to
drawing production quality forms.

System requirements:

  - Windows 3.1
  - Two button mouse
  - 1 MB of hard disk space

To begin the installation process follow these steps:

Using the PKUNZIP utility, enter the following command at
the DOS prompt:

pkunzip -d <source drive letter>:\DIAGRAM.ZIP <destination
drive letter>:\<destination directory>

For example, if the DIAGRAM.ZIP file is in drive [A] and you
want the "unzipped" files in drive [C] directory DGMUNZIP,
you would enter the command:
____________________________________________________________
pkunzip -d A:\DIAGRAM.ZIP C:\DGMUNZIP
____________________________________________________________

Once the files have been "UNZIPPED", start Windows. From the
"FILE" Main Menu, select "RUN". Type in <unzipped drive
letter>:\<unzipped directory>\SETUP in the RUN dialog box.
For example, if you unzipped the DiagramIt files to
C:\DGMUNZIP, you would type the following in the "RUN"
dialog box:
____________________________________________________________
C:\DGMUNZIP\SETUP
____________________________________________________________

This will begin the DiagramIt install process. It uses the
standard Windows "Setup Program". You need only follow the
instructions as they are presented to you. The install
process will create a Windows Program Group under the
Program Manager. To start DiagramIt, simply double click on
the DiagramIt ICON.

Once you have gained some familiarity with the package, use
DiagramIt to "OPEN" the diagram named "REGISTER.DGM".
You will find it in the directory you used to unzip the
files. (There are other sample diagrams there as well.)
This diagram is a Registration form. If you find the
DiagramIt Software useful, SoftCraft strongly encourages you
to print this diagram (form), fill it out, and send it in.
Your financial support would be greatly appreciated and
ensure future enhancements!

The registration fees as noted on the Registration Form are
described and defined as follows:

          $49.00 per individual registration. Each
                 anticipated CONCURRENT user should have
                 DiagramIt registered. This also applies
even if a single copy of the software is
installed in a shared environment such as a
networked file server. In this case, there
should be as many individual registrations
as there are anticipated CONCURRENT users.
$2,500.00 per site registration. A site is a
geographic area within a 5 mile
radius. All concurrent users employed by the
same company within this geographic area
                 would be registered.
$25,000.00 for Corporate Registration. This registers
DiagramIt for all Employees within a
                 company.

Note: Applicable sales taxes are included in
                       price.

$15.00 per Copy of the DiagramIt User's Guide.
Shipping charges for 10 or more copies of
the User's Guide are not included. You will
be invoiced for shipping charges for 10 or
more copies of the User's Guide

Thank you for your interest and support!
